Join us for an informal and lively studio session. Recommended for advanced-beginners and intermediate students working in any 2-D medium, subject, and style you choose.  The instructor provides technical tips, constructive feedback and assistance in achieving goals set by the student. This studio is about encouraging growth and artistic expression.  Students should bring their own supplies, reference materials and a work in progress.  No Advance Sales; Pay at the door. Check with the Center to ensure Studio is Open each week.

Are you in search of new opportunities to nurture the creativity in your little Picasso? In this class we will explore a variety of mediums and themes involving drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture geared toward the youngest student. Each child will learn to greater appreciate art and their own creative power. Course Fee includes tuition and supply fee.

This class is designed for students (beginner to intermediate) who want to explore the unique principles of watercolor: transparency, speed, spontaneity.   Classes will emphasize and demonstrate brush work, color mixing, wash techniques, value patterns, design layout and composition. We will discover “technical tricks” with different tools: palette knives, butter knife, razor blade, plastic credit cards, and learn to make corrections by lifting out, washing out and sponging out already painted surfaces. Class may be taken multiple times; subject matter will vary among a variety of landscapes, seascapes, florals and still-life. Watercolor paper will be provided by the instructor. Supply list will be provided upon registration. Course Fee includes $12.00 paper supply fee.

Do you own a Digital SLR camera but feel you aren’t taking advantage of its capabilities? This class will help you understand what your camera has to offer. We’ll cover issues that are not unique to digital cameras, such as basic camera operations, exposure, light metering, depth of field, ISO settings, as well as issues that are unique to digital cameras such as navigating, jpeg versus raw, setting white balance, color correction, understanding the histogram and more. Each class will include photo walks in our neighborhood for guided practice working with your camera settings. All brands of DSLR camera are welcome.

Do you need to find more time for self-care in your day? Are you looking to incorporate more creativity in the way you approach caring for others? Join Kimberly Faulkner, a practitioner of art and healing, for this one-time, stress reduction workshop designed for mothers and/or women who identify as caregivers. Through guided meditation and personal reflection, you will tap into creative expression through an art project inspired by nature. Kimberly will review self-care techniques and their uses, the importance of self-care and stress reduction, and share new activities you can practice at home with your family. You are sure to leave rejuvenated and return to care giving with a greater sense of balance. Ideal for all levels; no artistic background required.  Course fee includes tuition and $12 supply fee.

Make an original hand-painted silk scarf in time for Mother’s Day in the beautiful studios at Windy Knoll Farm. We will provide design inspiration and material guidance. You will choose your colors and play to your heart’s content in this relaxing, enriching workshop.  Ages 11 -12 must be accompanied by an adult registrant.  Light refreshments will be served.

Versatile and forgiving, water-based acrylics may be manipulated with a wide array of methods, applied to many different surfaces, and modified with various additives. We will explore application techniques, surface variations, and the effect of medium additives to stretch the reach of our creativity. Small class size allows for individual instruction: students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; more advanced students will further develop skills and explore new directions. The class may be taken multiple times; new subject matter is presented in each session. Canvases and boards will be provided by the instructor; registrants will receive a list of materials to bring to class via email after registration.  Course fee includes tuition and $12 canvas fee.

Instructor: Emily Thomson

Improve both drawing and painting skills using the striking sepia-toned medium of walnut ink. We will explore special techniques with different types of pens, nibs, and brushes and experiment with mixed media finishing touches to bring highlights to finished drawings. This class is for students who have previous drawing experience. Price includes tuition and a $12 supply fee.

Wild and wonderful color! Learn a variety of techniques, color mixing principles, and special effects in watercolor or acrylics. The program will help clarify the differences in properties and effects that may be achieved with these paints, but the student may determine which medium they wish to use in this combined session. Beginners will learn the basics, while more advanced students will enhance skills and explore new directions. Paper and canvases will be provided, plus a list of additional supplies you will need. Course fee includes $12 supply fee.
