Versatile and forgiving, acrylic paints may be manipulated with a wide array of techniques, applied to many different surfaces, and modified with various additives. Students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; experienced students will improve skills and explore new directions. Class is offered throughout the year with a different approach presented each session. List of acrylics supplies given upon registration; canvases and boards will be provided by instructor.

Course fee includes tuition and $12 canvas fee.

Explore the endless possibilities when using fluid and dry media together to make beautiful art. Working with watercolor, gouache, brushes, pencils, pens and ink we will blend line, stroke, wash, transparent and opaque color to create compelling compositions with subtle and bold textural variation. Subject matter options may vary among a variety of landscapes, seascapes, florals, still-life, and abstraction. Watercolor paper will be provided by the instructor. Supply list will be provided upon registration.

Course fee includes $12.00 supply fee.

What are the tools and techniques of cartoon drawing? Join this class and improve your ability to take a rough sketch to a finished cartoon using hand drawing media or digital tablets, as you choose. We will develop a cartoon character-based narrative and create pages of pictures and words to tell a story.  Course Fee includes tuition and supply fee.


Teens & Adults
(5 Weeks)  Feb. 24 - March 23

This class will provide introduction to the Zentangle method of meditative structured drawing. Class will cover the history, applications, and steps to create original Zentangled squares, called “tiles.” All art levels are invited and no artistic experience is needed, just a willingness to try something new. Students should bring their own sketchbook from home. Supply kit covered by supply fee will be sent home with student on the last class day. Improve your fundamental drawing skills with a wide array of lessons which will include the use of traditional art mediums (pencil, marker, pastels, etc.) and technology (drawing software, tablets.) Learn to recognize and proportionally represent edges, shapes, negative space, line, and shadow. Class may be taken multiple times; lessons will vary from session to session. Course fee includes $20.00 supply fee.

Discover the art of "beautiful writing" in clear and easy steps. Relax and watch the pen strokes flow when we learn basic letter forms; a different style is explored in each class.  This program is suitable for both beginners and intermediate students who want to expand skills. The class includes simple take-home projects to help you become confident with this ancient and therapeutic art form.  A perfect class for card making and invitations, it is also ideal for students who are exploring the art of bookmaking and art journals.  Course fee includes $20 supply fee.

Come indulge design impulses in our Friday night studio art class!  Find plenty of individual instruction and opportunities to try new media and techniques; projects explored may vary with each student's interest. We will draw, paint, sketch, and build dynamic creations. Course fee includes $15.00 supply fee.

Interested in improving your skills in creating likenesses and well-drawn faces? We will work from live models as we focus on facial proportions and symmetry and learn the subtle techniques of drawing the details of eyes, nose, and mouth. This portraiture class is suitable for both beginners and experienced drawing students. Please bring your artist sketching pencils and charcoals, and an 18" x 24" drawing pad.

Learn to mat and frame art and photos, and save money by doing it yourself. Participants will learn to cut a mat, which tools to use, where to buy supplies, and much more. Bring an image to be matted (size 4 x 6 or 5 x 7), and a frame (size 8 x 10.)
