Improve your fundamental drawing skills with a wide array of lessons which will include the use of traditional art mediums (pencil, marker, pastels, etc.) and technology (drawing software, tablets.) Learn to recognize and proportionally represent edges, shapes, negative space, line, and shadow. Class may be taken multiple times; lessons will vary from session to session. Students new to drawing instruction will learn basic techniques; more advanced students will further develop skills & explore new directions..  Course fee includes $20.00 supply fee.

Versatile and forgiving, water-based acrylics may be manipulated with a wide array of methods, applied to many different surfaces, and modified with various additives. We will explore application techniques, surface variations, and the effect of medium additives to stretch the reach of our creativity. Small class size allows for individual instruction: students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; more advanced students will further develop skills and explore new directions. The class may be taken multiple times; new subject matter is presented in each session. Canvases and boards will be provided by the instructor; registrants will receive a list of materials to bring to class via email after registration.  Course fee includes tuition and $12 canvas fee.

Ages 15 to Adult

Join us for an informal and lively studio session. Recommended for advanced-beginners and intermediate students working in any 2-D medium, subject, and style you choose.  The instructor provides technical tips, constructive feedback and assistance in achieving goals set by the student. This studio is about encouraging growth and artistic expression.  Students should bring their own supplies, reference materials and a work in progress.  No Advance Sales; Pay at the door. Check with the Center to ensure Studio is Open each week.

Interested in improving your skills in creating likenesses and well-drawn faces? We will work from live models as we focus on facial proportions and symmetry and learn the subtle techniques of drawing the details of eyes, nose, and mouth. This portraiture class is suitable for both beginners and experienced drawing students. Please bring your artist sketching pencils and charcoals, and an 18" x 24" drawing pad.

Discover the art of "beautiful writing" in clear and easy steps. Relax and watch the pen strokes flow when we learn basic letter forms; a different style is explored in each class.  This program is suitable for both beginners and intermediate students who want to expand skills. The class includes simple take-home projects to help you become confident with this ancient and therapeutic art form.  A perfect class for card making and invitations, it is also ideal for students who are exploring the art of bookmaking and art journals.  Course fee includes $20 supply fee.

Jump into an adventure and into the world of watercolor. Beginners will learn the basic tools and techniques of the medium; more advanced students are encouraged to explore new methods, materials and styles. You can grow as an artist with the class since it is offered throughout the year. A different approach or subject matter is presented each session. Watercolor paper will be provided by the instructor, along with individual instruction geared for your comfort level. Supply list will be provided. Course fee includes tuition and paper supply fee.

Come indulge design impulses in our Friday night studio art class!  Find plenty of individual instruction and opportunities to try new media and techniques; projects explored may vary with each student's interest. We will draw, paint, sketch, and build dynamic creations. Course fee includes $15.00 supply fee.

What are the tools and techniques of cartoon drawing? Join this class and improve your ability to take a rough sketch to a finished cartoon using hand drawing media or digital tablets, as you choose. We will develop a cartoon character-based narrative and create pages of pictures and words to tell a story.  Course Fee includes tuition and supply fee.

If you love pure color, you will love pastels! Learn about different pastel supports (types of papers and boards) while exploring a variety of techniques in this workshop. Dive right in without needing paintbrushes, solvents or a palette - no other medium allows you to apply rich color to the support as quickly as you can with pastels. Students new to the medium will learn basic tools & techniques; more experienced students will further develop skills and explore new directions. Supplies will be provided, $8 supply fee is included.
