If you love pure color, you will love pastels! Learn to use different pastel supports (types of papers and boards) while exploring a variety of techniques. Students new to pastels will learn basic tools & techniques; more advanced students will further develop skills and explore new directions. New subject matter is presented in each session. Paper is provided, plus a list of additional supplies you will need. Course Fee includes tuition and supply fee.

This class is designed for students (beginner to intermediate) who want to explore the unique principles of watercolor: transparency, speed, spontaneity.   Classes will emphasize and demonstrate brush work, color mixing, wash techniques, value patterns, design layout and composition. We will discover “technical tricks” with different tools: palette knives, butter knife, razor blade, plastic credit cards, and learn to make corrections by lifting out, washing out and sponging out already painted surfaces. Class may be taken multiple times; subject matter will vary among a variety of landscapes, seascapes, florals and still-life. Watercolor paper will be provided by the instructor. Supply list will be provided upon registration. Course Fee includes $12.00 paper supply fee.

Join us for this FREE one hour workshop geared for students and parents on Careers in the Visual Arts.  This event will open horizons to many exciting professions, many of which combine "traditional" academic subjects with art, such as Biomedical Illustration, Art Conservation, and other creative career paths. The session will begin with a one hour presentation by ARTriculate Art School Admissions Consultants followed by an open question and answer discussion.

ARTriculate specializes in college advising and guidance for students interested in pursuing a college degree program in the arts.

Jump into an adventure and into the world of watercolor. Beginners will learn the basic tools and techniques of the medium; more advanced students are encouraged to explore new methods, materials and styles. You can grow as an artist with the class since it is offered throughout the year. A different approach or subject matter is presented each session. Watercolor paper will be provided by the instructor, along with individual instruction geared for your comfort level. Supply list will be provided. Course fee includes tuition and paper supply fee.

Do you know the basic functions of your camera, but want to take your skills & artistry to the next level?  This class will focus on using composition and lighting to capture more compelling images, and introduce the powerful use of photo enhancement software. We will gain practice with guided photo walks around town, and learn to manipulate & optimize images with Adobe Lightroom in the Center's computer lab. Please bring your DSLR camera to class. This class is designed for the beginner. Take this opportunity to work step by step in acrylic paints to achieve a complete animal portrait painting. Color mixing, technique, and material properties will be addressed. Bring your favorite animal photograph to use as a visual reference. Course Fee includes tuition and supply fee.

Improve your fundamental drawing skills with the wide array of lessons presented in this class. Learn to recognize and proportionally represent edges, shapes, negative space, line, and shadow. This class may be taken multiple times; the lessons presented will vary from session to session. Students new to drawing instruction will learn basic techniques; more advanced students will further develop skills & explore new directions. Course fee includes $20.00 supply fee.

Come indulge design impulses in our Friday night studio art class!  Find plenty of individual instruction and opportunities to try new media and techniques; projects explored may vary with each student's interest and skill level. We will draw, paint, sketch, build, and compose dynamic creations in 2 and 3 dimensions.  What a great way to unwind & kick off the weekend! Course fee includes $15.00 supply fee.
