Versatile and forgiving, acrylic paints may be manipulated with a wide array of techniques, applied to many different surfaces, and modified with various additives. Students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; experienced students will improve skills and explore new directions. Class is offered throughout the year with a different approach presented each session. List of acrylics supplies given upon registration; canvases and boards will be provided by instructor.

Course fee includes tuition and $12 canvas fee.

Explore the beautiful fluidity and transparency of watercolor. Beginners will learn basic tools and techniques; experienced students will explore new methods, materials and styles. Class is offered throughout the year with a different approach presented each session. List of watercolor supplies given upon registration; watercolor paper will be provided by instructor. Course fee includes tuition and $12 paper supply fee.

Interested in improving your skills in creating likenesses and well-drawn faces? We will work from live models as we focus on facial proportions and symmetry and learn the subtle techniques of drawing the details of eyes, nose, and mouth. This portraiture class is suitable for both beginners and experienced drawing students. Please bring your artist sketching pencils and charcoals, and an 18" x 24" drawing pad.

Learn to mat and frame art and photos, and save money by doing it yourself. Participants will learn to cut a mat, which tools to use, where to buy supplies, and much more. Bring an image to be matted (size 4 x 6 or 5 x 7), and a frame (size 8 x 10.)

This class is designed for students (beginner to intermediate) who want to explore the unique principles of watercolor: transparency, speed, spontaneity.   Classes will emphasize and demonstrate brush work, color mixing, wash techniques, value patterns, design layout and composition. Class may be taken multiple times; subject matter will vary among a variety of landscapes, seascapes, florals and still-life. Watercolor paper will be provided by the instructor. Supply list will be provided upon registration. Course Fee includes $12.00 paper supply fee.

This class will explore the fundamental techniques of oil painting, working from both still life and photographs. Beginners will learn the care and use of essential materials such as brushes, canvases, and mediums, and experienced students will advance their understanding of oils through expert guidance from the instructor. Class designed for students with some background in drawing. Supply list will be provided.

Course fee includes tuition and $12 canvas fee.

Develop your observational and rendering skills. Learn to understand and draw in terms of line, value, shape, texture, light, space, composition, and perspective using a variety of media and techniques. Students new to drawing instruction will learn basic techniques; more advanced students will further develop skills & explore new directions.

Do you know the basic functions of your camera, but want to bring the “wow” factor to your photos? Improve your skills through 6 lessons with an expert. We will focus on using composition and lighting to capture more compelling images, and help you transition away from using automatic camera settings and move into the creative use of manual mode. We will gain practice with guided photo walks around town, then learn to take better photos through hands-on tutorials in the Center's computer lab. Please bring your DSLR camera to class. Enrollment limited to 8 students..
