What do you know about cartooning? Join our mini-camp and improve your character illustration skills and personal style. We will look at eastern and western comics, and then use hand drawing, digital tablets, and cartooning software to illustrate a page, just like the professionals!  Course Fee includes tuition and supply fee.

Manga and Anime cartoon enthusiasts – here is your chance to design and build your own character in two and three dimensions! We will start with small sketches, learn to enlarge via image projection, make a pattern, and hand sew a soft sculpture representation of your creation. Learn some basic hand sewing techniques in this unique class!  Course fee includes tuition and $20 supply fee.

What’s behind Manga & Anime? Why are these so popular? We will look at Japanese cartooning, learn a bit about the history & techniques and apply our skills into making creative and original Japanese frame-boards. Hand drawing and digital tablets may be utilized with a variety of widely accessible software programs, including Krita™, Manga Studio™, Paint Tool Sai™, and MediBang Paint Pro™.  Course fee includes $20 supply fee.

In this class we will explore a variety of mediums and themes involving drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture geared toward the youngest student. Improve your fundamental drawing skills with a wide array of lessons which will include the use of traditional art mediums (pencil, marker, pastels, etc.) and technology (drawing software, tablets.) Learn to recognize and proportionally represent edges, shapes, negative space, line, and shadow. Class may be taken multiple times; lessons will vary from session to session. Students new to drawing instruction will learn basic techniques; more advanced students will further develop skills & explore new directions..  Course fee includes $20.00 supply fee.

Visual art journaling is an exciting frontier for self-expression. The art form combines art and words, providing a place to access creative energy, stretch image-making capabilities and explore techniques, tools and processes to create very personalized artwork. Artists will experiment with graphite, colored pencil, caran d’ache crayons, paint, collage and printmaking techniques to learn the basic skills of art journaling. Visual Art Journals emphasize the use of color (lots of color!), texture, shape, line and image. No previous artistic experience required as there are no rules, just self-expression!  Course fee includes tuition and $25 supply fee.
