This class is designed for students (beginner to intermediate) who want to explore the unique principles of watercolor: transparency, speed, spontaneity.   Classes will emphasize and demonstrate brush work, color mixing, wash techniques, value patterns, design layout and composition. Class may be taken multiple times; subject matter will vary among a variety of landscapes, seascapes, florals and still-life. Watercolor paper will be provided by the instructor. Supply list will be provided upon registration. Course Fee includes $12.00 paper supply fee.

This class will explore the fundamental techniques of oil painting, working from both still life and photographs. Beginners will learn the care and use of essential materials such as brushes, canvases, and mediums, and experienced students will advance their understanding of oils through expert guidance from the instructor. Class designed for students with some background in drawing. Supply list will be provided.

Course fee includes tuition and $12 canvas fee.

Enjoy Asian brush painting in this workshop with award-winning artist Jean Seelig.  One stroke techniques will be demonstrated and practiced with an emphasis on the relaxing elements of the art form. Motifs will vary with the season. Bring a lunch or plan to enjoy your mid-class break in a neighborhood eatery.  Course fee includes $15 supply fee.

Versatile and forgiving, acrylic paints may be manipulated with a wide array of techniques, applied to many different surfaces, and modified with various additives. Students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; experienced students will improve skills and explore new directions. Class is offered throughout the year with a different approach presented each session. List of acrylics supplies given upon registration; canvases and boards will be provided by instructor.

Course fee includes tuition and $12 canvas fee.

Come indulge design impulses in our Friday night studio art class!  Find plenty of individual instruction and opportunities to try new media and techniques; projects explored may vary with each student's interest. We will draw, paint, sketch, and build dynamic creations. Course fee includes $15.00 supply fee.

Improve your fundamental drawing skills with a wide array of lessons which will include the use of traditional art mediums (pencil, marker, pastels, etc.) and technology (drawing software, tablets.) Learn to recognize and proportionally represent edges, shapes, negative space, line, and shadow. Class may be taken multiple times; lessons will vary from session to session. Course fee includes $20.00 supply fee.


Ages 13-18

Instructor:  Ryan Arias

This course will lead writers and artists through the steps of creating and constructing an imaginary world in a process known as "Worldbuilding," a term used to describe the creation of a fictional universe. Explore the development of a unique setting that exists only in your mind’s eye, weaving history, ecology and geography to create a full and rich backstory for fiction and artwork. We will represent key elements of our worlds in words and images, using technology in our Computer Lab. Writers, gamers, and illustrators – come share your vision and find pathways to more vibrant creativity! Bring a bagged lunch each day.  Course fee includes $10 supply fee.

Explore the powers of the third dimension in this diverse approach to sculpture. You will have creative freedom regarding the source of your inspiration. Build anything from whimsical characters to abstract constructs—the sky is the limit! Using wire, wood, clay & more, we will develop and improve modeling skills and the ability to “see” the three-dimensional art in the making.  Course Fee includes tuition and supply fee.
