If you love pure color, you will love pastels! Learn about different pastel supports (types of papers and boards) while exploring a variety of techniques in this workshop. Dive right in without needing paintbrushes, solvents or a palette - no other medium allows you to apply rich color to the support as quickly as you can with pastels. Students new to the medium will learn basic tools & techniques; more experienced students will further develop skills and explore new directions. Supplies will be provided.  Course fee includes $8 supply fee.

Our mini-classes for ages 5-8 feature a variety of 2D and 3D art projects to encourage exploration, discovery, and FUN! In this session children will create their own organic botanical creature using elements from nature ---leaves, pine sprays, twigs & more.  We will learn about form, texture, layers and collage techniques in creating an autumnal keepsake.

Course fee includes $5.00 Supply Fee.

Enjoy Asian brush painting in this workshop with award-winning artist Jean Seelig.  One stroke techniques will be demonstrated and practiced with an emphasis on the relaxing elements of the art form. Motifs will vary with the season. Bring a lunch or plan to enjoy your mid-class break in a neighborhood eatery.  Course fee includes $15 supply fee.

Join artists from our Urban Sketchers gallery exhibit for spontaneous drawing on sites around our Old Town neighborhood. Make quick sketches on the spot and capture a fresh impression of what you see and feel in the moment - be part of the growing international urban sketching community!  Pay $20 in advance here, or $25 at the door.

Dress for the weather.  Bring a sketchbook or drawing pad, pencils, eraser, straight edge, micro pens.  Optional supplies could include colored pencils, pencil sharpener, sable brush, small watercolor tray, water cup, bottled water.

Come make a gorgeous autumnal arrangement for your Thanksgiving celebration with expert florist Fauzi Omar of Flowers with Passion in Historic Manassas. Fauzi will guide guests step by step in the creation of a low profile centerpiece featuring autumnal blooms and seasonal embellishments - perfect to adorn your dining table, foyer, or living room.  Fauzi will also share tips on arranging and conditioning flowers, and liven up the gathering with some fun door prizes!  No previous floral arranging experience needed. Fee includes all supplies.

With studios thriving in New York, Paris, Bangkok, the Czech Republic, and Canada, Himapan has developed a creative process that is unique and accessible. Don't miss this opportunity to flex your creativity and produce an exquisite work of art in a very relaxing atmosphere. Gorgeous solid structure wooden canvases are already prepared with beautiful decoupaged lotus leaves. Instructor Carla Riga will provide paints, brushes/sponges, varnish, and helpful tips to inspire and get you started. You will leave with a painting ready to be hung, no additional framing needed. Sign up early - enrollment is limited. No previous art experience needed. Canvases and supplies are included in fee.

There is a saying “Where your attention goes, your energy flows.”  The vision boards we create will help us to manifest dreams into reality, providing direction and clarity.  We will begin with focus and relaxation techniques through guided meditation, then we will support your creative process by demonstrating a variety of mixed media techniques and materials.  No prior art experience needed.  Let go of limitations, dream big, and express yourself in making this very personal work of art.  Course fee includes tuition and $5 supply fee.
