The Center for the Arts’ nationally recognized Pied Piper Theatre (PPT), welcomes young people ages 8 through 18 to explore the world of theatre both on the stage and behind the curtain. Offering three fully staged musical presentations a year, this award-winning children’s theatre provides dramatic and musical theatre training while building confidence, responsibility, and self-esteem.
Hundreds of extraordinarily talented youth have performed in the last two decades in such popular musical productions as Cinderella, Annie, Peter Pan, Oliver!, Disney’s Beauty & the Beast and The Wizard of Oz. PPT offers a training program in technical theatre, providing opportunities for students to learn stage management, set design, lighting, and sound. Classes are offered throughout the year and a full range of summer camps are available for ages 5 – adults. PPT kids may also participate in local video opportunities!
Disney’s classic romantic tale of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST comes to life on the stage this spring when PIED PIPER THEATRE presents this captivating musical production in April. As the beautiful Belle tries to save her father from the Beast, she brings compassion and hope to the bewitched Beast and his household. Fighting off wolves and the angry villagers, she undertakes to transform him from Beast to Prince. With breathtaking sets, stunning costumes, and the melodic sounds of the orchestra, the cast of 48 of the area’s most talented young actors will bring merriment and magic to the stage. The musical portfolio of characters includes Lumiere the candlestick, Cogsworth the clock, Mrs. Potts and her son Chip, along with a hilarious cast of plates, dishes, forks, spoons – and don’t forget the napkins – as everyone bursts into song with the unforgettable “Be Our Guest!”
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST performs Saturday, April 29 at 2pm and 7:00pm and Sunday, April 30 at 3:00pm at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle in Manassas. Purchase tickets at the Hylton box office or online at www.hyltoncenter.org. The early bird special through April 26 is $15 for general admission and $12 for children ages 12 and under. After April 26, the tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for children ages 12 and under. Please note: Tickets purchased online through the Hylton are subject to a $4 service fee per ticket.
