This class will provide opportunity to draw the unclothed figure with guidance from the instructor. Live models will pose for both quick sketches and more detailed studies. We will explore gesture drawing, and the movement of line, physical proportion, and the interplay of light and shadow on the human form. Please bring your artist sketching pencils and charcoals, and an 18" x 24" drawing pad. Program is geared toward students with previous drawing experience: advanced beginners and intermediate students welcome. High school students may enroll with parental consent letter, contact the Center for details.

Course fee includes tuition and a $45 model fee.

Learn from a professional and practice the many ways you may enhance photos with the powerful software Adobe Lightroom®. Photographer Suhail Mir will use his own art to demonstrate key ways Lightroom may be used to transform images, and will introduce the software’s photo management, archiving, and backup utilities. Students will work through hands-on tutorials in the Center’s computer lab. Lightroom will be employed for better visual storytelling - improving composition, color balance and tone, sharpening, reducing noise, straightening, or selectively converting to black-and-white. Bring your own images to class on a flash drive or camera chip and be prepared to upload them to computers in the lab. Basic computer knowledge is an essential prerequisite for this class. Enrollment limited to 8 students..

The art form combines art and words, providing a place to access creative energy, stretch image-making capabilities and explore techniques to create very personalized artwork. Murder on the Manassas Express

It's 1930 and passengers board the Manassas Express for a leisurely trip to points south. But, along the way murder and mayhem ensue when one of the passengers meets an untimely end.  Join us on the Manassas Express for an evening of good food and fun while you try to solve the mysterious murder along the way.  Interested in being a part of the show? Come dressed as one of the following characters for a chance to act in the show:

Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Jessica Fletcher, Sam Spade, Ellery Queen, Sherlock Holmes, Philip Marlow, Hildegarde Withers, and Father Dowling.

Ticket price includes a four course meal. Cash bar available and opens at 6pm.  Doors open at 6:30pm.  No reserved seating except when you purchase a reserved table.

*Reserved Tables are limited and will not be available after January 27, 2020. (Full table purchased only, see below for pricing.) Patrons who purchase 8 or more tickets individually will not receive a reserved table.* Tickets are only available to this show through February 3, 2020.

Menu:

Appetizer  - Cheese and Charcuterie with assorted crackers, grapes and berries

Salad - Deconstructed Crab Tower: Fresh crab meat piled layered with pineapple and mango salsa, sliced cucumber and avocado pulp then finished with a cucumber wasabi aioli

Entree - Manassas Surf & Turf: Tender marinated tenderloin beef tips seasoned and pan seared, served with pan jus and a warm salmon confit served atop a southern style grit cake with seasonal vegetables

Dessert - Chocolate Parfait: Supple whipped chocolate mousse layered with vanilla cream and crushed nuts, then topped with fresh mint and berry coulis

Take your drawings to new depths of visual interest with a better understanding of the colored pencils medium. This workshop will focus on color blending, shading and textural variations using an array of application techniques. Train your eye to see form and color with greater distinction -- colored pencils are supremely portable and ideal for urban and plein air sketching, cartoon coloring, mixed media explorations, and abstract compositions.  All skill levels welcome.
