Events & Programs

Founded in 1984 by a group of artists and art lovers, the Center for the Arts aims to enrich the quality of life in the Northern Virginia suburbs through performances, gallery exhibits and arts education. A theater, an art gallery, classrooms and administrative offices are located in the Center’s  home in the historic Candy Factory in Old Town Manassas.

Ages 8-12

Mon.-Fri. 9am-3:30pm
The curtain is rising on this exciting dramatic and musical theatre workshop.  Join professional guest artists and teachers in a theatre arts adventure through theatre games, drama, acting techniques, mime, scene study, and improvisation.  Morning sessions in dance, music, voice, musical theatre, and theatre combat add a variety of skills essential to the young actor. The afternoon session features a musical theatrical performance workshop.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in all elements of the production from character development to creating sets, props, makeup, and costumes.  Friends and family are welcome to attend the performance on the final afternoon.

What do you know about cartooning? Have you ever drawn alien beings, human and other animal creatures on the same page? Let’s have fun and step-by-step create pages to tell a cartoon story. Learn the fundamentals: we will take a look at eastern and western comics, then use hands-on and cartooning software to illustrate an exciting story or page, just like the professionals!

Camp Fee includes $25.00 Supply Fee.

Let’s make gorgeous works of art on fabric and learn a kid-friendly variation on the beautiful art form called batik!  Utilizing a safe dye-resist method, we will make vibrant textile creations that are wearable, usable, or ready for display.

Camp fee includes $30.00 supply fee.

Dance Programs

Join us for the fabulous dance sessions one Sunday of each month from 4-6pm at the Center for the Arts. Beginners and advanced dancers are all welcome.

Arts on the Go

The Arts on the Go project consists of three self-contained interactive exhibits, each with a distinct theme.  Two modules (Habitats and Energy Matters) have been designed for use in elementary schools, and a third module (PowerUP!) has been created for middle school students.
